The county has a ton of information on just about every property. In Snohomish County you can go to the County Courthouse in Everett and ask for things like AS-Builts (diagrams about the septic system), what permits were pulled for the property, if there are any permits outstanding on the property, if there are any outstanding complaints about the property, or any number of other details. If you don't find what you expect, you can ask for access to the micro fiche machines where you can review all the filed documents about the property yourself. For a small printing fee, you can print out any pages you wish to look through at a later time. When you really want to know about a property, this is where you get the real deal.
